NIGHT LIGHTS

I wanted to try and play with the use of light at night and somewhat abstracting them. I like the motion blurs and I think the more abstracted ones are interesting.

Feminine

Bert Stern
Marilyn Monroe
Net veil

I like the affect that the veil gives this portrait of Marilyn. I like how it somewhat abstracts the face.

Ruven Afanador
Escuela Flamenca La Farruca
2009
Gelatin silver print
20 x 16 in.
http://throckmorton-nyc.com/

This photo seems very dramatic and the alternative process used seems very interesting and adds depth to the photo, looks sort of scratched or dusty.

Joseph Mills
Untitled, Inner City #1330, 1985
Varnished silver gelatin print of expired photo paper
http://www.amadorgallery.com/Millseximage9.html

I like the yellowish tone that this photo has it makes it seem old and distressed.

Something a little different

I enjoyed this photo because of the use of light and that is the only thing you see in the photo

i liked this one because of the weather. it sets a different mood in the photo and since its snowing shows the dedication of the car owners and that they still want to take their cars out even if its snowing!

i like the use of line and color within this photo.

Plain Vintage

Shane O'Donnell
American Greaser Photo Collection
June 3, 2009

I was instantly drawn to this photo because it was taken at night so use of light was very important, the blurry quality it has to it and the fact that through all the blur you can still see the car.

Dan Winters
Photo Booth
constructed and photographed in Austin
September 2003

The thing i like about this photo is that certain color it has that makes it look like a vintage photograph.

Dan Winters
Lonnie Blankenship
outside Glenrio, Texas
March 26, 2002

I like the fact that this photo is in a field and there is nothing in the background that distracts from the focal point.

ROCKABILLY N RODS

This was a car show i went to a few weeks ago in pueblo, co and it was snowing and so cold but the love for this and my car made it a fun adventure. This band i shot is called Mad Max and the Wild Ones, they are a rockabilly family and they play music together for fun. I like the fact that these photos are all so different and show this particular trip.

3 interesting artists!!!

Mariah Robertson
I am Passions
Untitled, 2009, unique c-print
20 x 24
http://www.marvelligallery.com/IamPassions01.html

I enjoyed looking at the whole series of prints! The colors and different effects achieved were amazing!

Robert Frank
St. Petersburg Fla, 1956
11 x 14 silverprint
robertmann.com/exhibitions/2009/frank/image_05.html

Robert Frank has always been a favorite but this particular photo is intriguing. I really enjoy the background bc it relates to the old people in the foreground...in a sense, the cars now are old and that is how some people view them.

Norman Mooney
Carbon Drawings Series
7, #1
sashawolf.com/exhibition_norman.html

these carbon drawings were very interesting to me i like the simplicity it has and the sort of blurry effect.
